Group Extended Excursion: Canoe or Kayak

This is a great tour for birders, photographers, naturalists and anyone wanting a more in-depth swamp excursion. This four-hour tour offers plenty of time to really soak in the scenery and relax while exploring the swamp’s beauty.

These customized tours can be done via canoe or kayak and can begin early in the morning at sunrise, late in the afternoon to catch the evening sunset or anytime in-between.

On this longer tour, there are various routes that may be taken. Beginning along the historic Suwannee Canal through a tangled forest of bay, cypress, pine and shrubs, the tour may continue out into the open expanse of Chesser or Mizell Prairie or to a shelter built into the edge of the canal. An Interpretive Naturalist will share knowledge of the swamp’s cultural and natural history, tell interesting swamp stories and identify plants and wildlife along the way.
