Explore the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge with your homeschool group!
During the day, your group will venture into the swamp on a guided 90-minute boat tour and participate in other activities in the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge such as a guided hike on the Chesser Island Boardwalk and an exploration of the Chesser Island Homestead.
The 90 minute guided boat tour is an aquatic excursion with a naturalist who will help you look for wildlife and teach you about the swamp’s history and ecology. Be on the lookout for wading birds, cypress trees, and of course, American alligators.
The Chesser Island Homestead is a historic home that belonged to a locally famous swamper family, the Chessers. The Chesser Island boardwalk is a 0.7 mile walk through the beautiful Chesser Prairie.
